Lewis has been employed at the University since 2022, first as a Lecture Capture Support Officer for Replay, then as the Replay and Audio Visual Support Service Manager. Previously, he spent 12 years as a Theatre Manager and Drama Teacher at a school in Surrey. Prior to that he was a touring Theatrical Sound Designer and Engineer and has worked across the country, London's West End and New York's Broadway.
He has always believed that a strong focus on personal and professional development is essential, and continues to encourage his love of teaching by supporting his team through their own development journeys.
As part of his role in the AVSS, Lewis is currently focused on building a new Community of Practice to support AV Technicians across the University with their own professional practice and development and is keen to help raise the profile of AV. With the ongoing shift away from traditional installations to a more integrated AV over IP model, it is much more important that individuals responsible for these integrations communicate effectively between teams.
Serving on the ICTF Steering Committee, Lewis would hope to bring in the wider AV Technician Community to further enhance the understanding of how AV and IT are merging and support the university's ongoing commitment to accessibility by raising awareness of AV related issues holding back inclusion.
