I joined the 1st Line team in the Student Systems Support Centre 9 years ago as a temp, supporting the initial roll out of the SITS:Vision system, the main student record system at the University. I now manage the training provision for the department, which includes delivering training courses online via MS Teams. Outside of Student Systems, I am currently taking part in the Continuous Improvement Local Practitioner course run by the Focus Programme. So far, I am really enjoying this opportunity, and I have been using it as an excuse to explore new (to me) technologies and tools that can be used to improve business processes.
I have been a member of the ICTF Steering Committee for a number of years, taking part in a variety of initiatives, and have been the sole Support Centre representative during this time. I have been in the Conference Organising committee for most of these years, including Charing the 2021 ICTF Conference, the first (and hopefully only!) virtual version of the conference. Whilst I think it's important for Support Centres to be represented on the committee, I am also especially keen to champion women working in IT roles throughout the collegiate University and to identify ways to encourage the recruitment of more women into these roles. I’d also like to encourage those in more junior roles to also have representation and to increase their engagement in the community. I have an MSc in Carbon Management so I'm also keen on promoting sustainability initiatives across the University, particularly those focusing on IT.
